WHAT IS ROTARY(ROTARCT) Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. It is a secular organization open to all persons regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, or political preference. There are 35,753 clubs and over 1,223,550 million members worldwide. The members of Rotary Clubs are known as Rotarians. Members usually meet weekly as an opportunity to organize work on their service goals. Rotary for the past years have contributed immensely towards the ending of polio worldwide , by so doing Rotary has contributed $2.2 billion on Polio with the Bill and Melinda gates foundation contributing over $900 million towards ending Polio worldwide. Rotaract club of KNUST meets Rotarians From Banff, Scotland

 Members of the Rotaract Club of KNUST sponsored by Rotary Club of Kumasi had an interactive session with members from Rotary Club of Banff , Scotland on the 18th March, 2018. The president and the members of Rotaract Club of KNUST  expressed their gratitude for the support and expressed their willingness to collaborate in the future for more projects which would make a difference in the world.

Rotaract Ghana Zone D undertakes Tree Planting Exercise

Rotaract clubs in Zone D as part of the fulfillment for the challenge thrown by the Rotary International President Ian Risely to   members of the Rotary family to plant at least one tree each to change the environment for the better by Earth Day on 22 nd April, 2018 , planted 50 seedlings in Sunyani Senior High ( Sunyani) on the 6 th March, 2018. The project begun exactly at 8am and finish by 2pm. The Zone coordinator Rtr. Enoch Darko explained that , environmental degradation had been identified as pressing issue lately hence, prompting the Current RI President to look outside the six (6) areas of focus to tackle the problem of environmental degradation through tree planting. He further explained that the initiate was from the national office of which same project took place through out the country at various zones.    The project was in collaboration with the NSS personnel at the Forestry Commission. 1. Rotaract Club of KNUST conducts Free Health Screening Exeercise

Rotaract Club of KNUST sponsored by Rotary Club of Kumasi organized a health screening exercise for the students of the KNUST  for free. According to the president of the Rotaract Club, the project was focused on one of the six focus areas of Rotary which was sanitation and disease prevention. The project was meant to provide the students with services that would help promote their health by letting them their medical status. Students were screened for Hepatitis B, HIV as well as eye screening. The project was in partnership with Asokwa Children's hospital, College of Humanities and Social Sciences from KNUST and Micro Medical.

ROTARACT GHANA ZONE D ORGANIZES A CLEAN-UP EXERCISE

On the 21st of September, 2017, a community clean up exercise was organized to effort of participating in the National Volunteering Day Program. The exercise was carried out at Ayeduase market which happens to be a community within the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Similar exercises were also organized across the country. Rotaract Club of KNUST happens to be part of the Zone D group. Participants also educated the community members on how to continually keep the environment clean which would eventually help prevent the spread of disease. It must be noted that this is in line with the area of focus for disease and prevention for Rotary International.

ROTARACT KNUST GOES ON A POLIO PARADE

Rotary Polio March As part of the effort to eradicate polio from the world, a polio march was organized around the country and the world with the help of Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors  from different parts of  the world, partnered by Polio Plus foundation and other  organizations. Numbering about 500, personnel from these institutions walked through some principal streets in the country to raise awareness about polio and the need for mothers with children under five (5) years to immunize their wards against it. The walk dubbed ‘End Polio Now: Make a History Today’ and led by the Ghana National PolioPlus Committee (GNPPC) We are this close to eradicate the manace with just a few countries left such as Pakistan and Nigeria. The March in Ghana took place across all regional capitals in the country, with participants marching in the principal.

Rotaract Touching Life Project

Rotaract Club of KNUST in collaboration with Rotaract Club of UCC, Rotaract Club of Lagos, from University of Lagos, Rotaract club of Ugandan Institute of Communication Technology and Rotaract club of Belmont from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe presents ROTARACT TOUCHING LIFE PROJECT scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria from the 22nd September, 2017 to 26th September, 2017. The Rotaract touching life project is an international project being undertaken by Rotaract clubs from KNUST, UCC all from Ghana, Rotaract club of Lagos, from the university of Lagos, in Nigeria, Belmont and U.I.C.T from Zimbabwe and Uganda respectively. The project is targeted at the following focus areas thus maternal and childcare, sanitation and disease prevention, education and literacy. Individuals willing to participate would have to pay for a fee thus their transportation and feeding excluding accommodation.
