SESSION WITH RP KELVIN KOBBY MENSAH


THEME: ROTARY MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Meeting started at exactly 5:00pm.
Apologies were made on behalf of Adwoa Amponsah Donkor
Aside that about 90%of executives were present with about 30%of members.


MAIN AGENDA: SESSION WITH RP KELVIN KOBBY MENSAH
TO GIVE A REPORT ON THE TOUCHING LIFE PROJECT.

He first talked about the joy of seeing Nigeria

The Rotaract touching Lives Project is a joint project by the Rotaract Clubs of Lagos (Nigeria) Knust and Ucc (Ghana) held in Lagos

Day 1(arrival and accreditation)
Thursday 21 September


The members of  Rotaract  club of KNUST and other supporting clubs (UPSA, UG, and Adenta Central) Ghana arrived  in Lagos at exactly 11:00pm. Senami  a member of the Rotaract club of Lagos  brought us from the bus station at Yaba to the Faith plaza,  we got to faith plaza at exactly 12:00am where we lodged. 
There was short introduction of members of all participating clubs for everyone to
know one each other, we played games and everyone retired to bed afterwards

Day2 (visitation)
 At exactly 7:00am all members were awake, we got prepared for the day's work which is visitation, we left faith plaza to UNILAG around 9:00am for break fast and simcard for the Ghanian
Rotaractors .....From UNILAG we headed for Isolo and got to Isolo around 12:48pm for the tree planting project. When we got to Isolo some other rotaractors from Isolo joined us for the project ..We headed to the Ansar -un - deen primary  where the  project is set to take place . we met with the
proprietress of the school, had a little talk and we  started the tree planting ...We planted two trees and took a group photograph with the proprietress and some students


       We finished the tree planting around 1:40pm. we left Isolo at exactly 2:00pm. We headed
straight to the district office at Ikeja where past presidents were introduced and lunch served.
We headed to Isolo for their Rotary meeting ..... During the meeting the president and other members of the club promised to assist with feeding and accommodation.....We took group pictures and came
back  home

Day3 (donation)
    We left faith plaza at exactly 8:00am  to Modupe Cole.  When we got there some other members were already waiting for us. We fed some physical challenged children, swept the compound and 
played with some kids. We were addressed by the attendant . He told us about Modupe Cole why it
was created and how  they have been fairing. He told us that other non-governmental organizations
assist them including the Lagos State government .... After the brief talk we donated some food stuffs we bought for them like   rice,gari and some other things. From Module Cole we went to UNILAG to eat and we headed back to faith plaza to  rest.

      At exactly 7:00pm we headed to Rotaract club of  Gbagada for their installation/ after party .....It was great. We played games and danced.
We slept over there and came back  the next morning



Day4
After settling down every body slept. And later in the evening around 6:00pm. We went for Isolo Rotaract meeting. The meeting was okay we learnt some of the Nigerian's way of conducting a meeting and they also learnt from us
Nigerian Rotaract  president don't stand up to address the members during their meeting  ..
When the meeting ended ...We went somewhere to get suya and drinks. Then we later came back to our Lodge where everyone went to sleep

Day(5)
   After taking breakfast (yam and fish stew)  we all prepared to go out. At around 12: 00pm we left
the hotel and went to board a bus going to Lekki. Upon arrival to Lekki, we paid the entrance fee and entered ..... We didn't get to see much animals since the receptionist already told us that seeing animals is by chance. We noticed monkies and a very old tortoise . We also  went for the canopy walk where we walked
past the height of trees. Some people were scared and they screamed but it was great fun after that we went to see the tillapia fish pound.
We took pictures and headed out of the conservation center. It was a big time experience though
We left  LCC at around 6:15pm . We took a bus tho Lekki mall where some of us bought some stuffs . We really had fun. We came back to our Lodge ate and slept

DONATION
Silly fines were conducted by Rtr. Reginald. In all we had 54cedis for donations,  silly fines and dues but incurred a cost of 12.50cedis  remaining 41.50cedis.
70%  of guest showed up for the meeting  giving  a positive impression of how  enthused the people were to get a gist of what happened in Nigeria.
Our Treasurer kept on reminding us to pay our dues

ANYTHING GOOD FOR THE CLUB

RP cautioned members about be time conscious towards meetings and club projects. He hammered
on members cultivating the habit of being on time all the time.
Rtr. Kay gave a toast to the trip to Nigeria , and to Rotaractors everywhere and the last a toast by
Rtr.  Nathaniel to his newly found crush.

Meeting ended with great joy at exactly 6:20pm

Rotaract Club of KNUST conducts Free Health Screening Exeercise

Rotaract Club of KNUST sponsored by Rotary Club of Kumasi organized a health screening exercise for the students of the KNUST  for free. According to the president of the Rotaract Club, the project was focused on one of the six focus areas of Rotary which was sanitation and disease prevention. The project was meant to provide the students with services that would help promote their health by letting them their medical status. Students were screened for Hepatitis B, HIV as well as eye screening. The project was in partnership with Asokwa Children's hospital, College of Humanities and Social Sciences from KNUST and Micro Medical.

Rotaract Ghana Zone D undertakes Tree Planting Exercise

Rotaract clubs in Zone D as part of the fulfillment for the challenge thrown by the Rotary International President Ian Risely to   members of the Rotary family to plant at least one tree each to change the environment for the better by Earth Day on 22 nd April, 2018 , planted 50 seedlings in Sunyani Senior High ( Sunyani) on the 6 th March, 2018. The project begun exactly at 8am and finish by 2pm. The Zone coordinator Rtr. Enoch Darko explained that , environmental degradation had been identified as pressing issue lately hence, prompting the Current RI President to look outside the six (6) areas of focus to tackle the problem of environmental degradation through tree planting. He further explained that the initiate was from the national office of which same project took place through out the country at various zones.    The project was in collaboration with the NSS personnel at the Forestry Commission. 1. Rotaract club of KNUST meets Rotarians From Banff, Scotland

 Members of the Rotaract Club of KNUST sponsored by Rotary Club of Kumasi had an interactive session with members from Rotary Club of Banff , Scotland on the 18th March, 2018. The president and the members of Rotaract Club of KNUST  expressed their gratitude for the support and expressed their willingness to collaborate in the future for more projects which would make a difference in the world.
